An open rack allows for servers, test instruments, telecommunications components, tape drives and audio and video equipment to be organized in a spacious, yet rugged rack. The electronics and computing devices come in rack mounted packages that are botted to the side frames of the racks.
If the electronics and computing devices are not rack mountable, they can be placed on shelves that are also bolted to the side frames of the racks. Open racks vary in size and shape but usually have a standard cabinet width of 19’ and have no siding, hence the title “Open” rack.
